We all want the kind of garden that we’d be proud to spend time in. But, let’s be honest, it’s hard work. Not everyone wants to spend hours a day out there working when they could be relaxing in it instead. The truth is that taking care of your garden doesn’t have to be all that hard. Just keep the following tips in mind.
Cut down on your garden
If you want a gorgeous looking garden that takes less work, consider having some garden that requires no gardening. We’re not talking gibberish, we’re talking about patio and decking options. These options require occasional maintenance, that’s true. But they give you some great looking space in the garden that can even help you get more use of it. The next time you’re having dinner on a lovely summer’s day, you’ll be glad for it.
Make your plants easier to reach
If you have flowers you’re proud of, then you’ll want to take care of them. In a larger garden, however, that can mean a lot of time caring for your plants. So why not consider placing your plants in smaller beds close to house? You might even want to consider creating a fence garden or other vertical placements so you don’t have to get down on your knees at all.
Buy tools that do the hard work for you
If you’re doing everything by hand, then, of course, you’re going to have to spend a lot more time tending your garden. For example, instead of watering the can by hand, it’s a lot easier to use a sprinkler system connected to an under-deck water tank. If you want bushes, put away the shears and consider getting a trimmer, instead. If you can go electronic with it, it’s likely going to make things a lot easier.
Take care of your tools
For your other tools, the better care you take of them, the better they’ll be. No-one wants to prune with a rusty pruner. To better tend your garden, build custom sheds designed to shelter and better organize your tools. Depending on how much garden you have to take care of, you might need more space, so be sure to build to your needs.
More mulch
If no-one has told you this yet: mulch makes your gardening easy. Or at least a lot less work. Perhaps its most useful feature is the ability to prevent weeds from growing. But it’s also great at retaining water, meaning you spend less time watering your garden. There are plenty of guides on how to create and place mulch in your garden. Make it an integral part of your flower beds.
