A big thank you to Chloe from Celebrate and Decorate for hosting this wonderful event. I’m so excited to share my Autumn tablescape creation here at the Farmhouse! Joining my blogger friends for this hop sparked the idea to create an **outdoor table setting**—a perfect way to embrace fall’s charm.
With cooler temperatures, nature’s vibrant colors, and fewer bugs (yay!), autumn is ideal for outdoor entertaining. Even if you don’t have a porch—or it’s too small—an outdoor setup can be a fantastic alternative. Let me show you what I came up with!
No Table? No Problem!
I had the perfect idea but quickly realized I didn’t have a table light enough to carry to my chosen spot. A quick trip to the barn solved the issue. I found two sawhorses and three 6-foot boards—just what I needed to craft a makeshift table.
Choosing the Perfect Location
While there were a few potential spots, I settled on a spot along our walking path, just a short stroll from the house. It’s my favorite, surrounded by nature, with just the right ambiance.
Creating the Table Setting
Here at the Farmhouse, I love using items I already have. It’s not about buying new decor but about reimagining what you own into beautiful arrangements. I gathered everything I thought might work and hauled it outside in a wheelbarrow—it was quite a sight!
I didn’t have a set plan for how I’d arrange everything, but I let creativity take over as I went. Time was ticking to catch the perfect light for photos, so I dove right in.
Elements of the Tablescape
– White candles, pumpkins, and silver-spray-painted leaves: These gave the table a soft, elegant fall vibe.
Layered place settings
I combined chocolate-brown and distressed white chargers, off-white plates, small ironstone plates, flatware, and simple napkins.
To add height and dimension, I used a glass cake stand as a pedestal for a large white pumpkin I bought from a local farmer—supporting local farmers is always a win!
A reclaimed board centerpiece base:
This rustic piece, complete with nail holes, added so much character to the table.
A Magical Evening Outdoors
Imagine arriving at a friend’s house to find this table setting in the middle of nature. Wouldn’t you feel delighted? I know I would! The temperature was perfect, and the evening couldn’t have been more beautiful—a wonderful way to enjoy the outdoors with family and friends.
Creating a pretty table doesn’t have to be stressful, time-consuming, or expensive. Aside from the white pumpkins and wine, I used items I already had. It’s about enjoying the process and letting nature’s beauty shine.

Beautiful tablescape. If you haven’t said those were saw horses under that tablecloth I’d have thought it was a pottery barn style table. Everything looks just perfect tucked into the woods like that!

Gorgeous, I can almost hear the leaves falling around me! I especially love the board base for the centerpiece and the white wood chunky candlesticks. The rustic setting and table are a great contrast to the delicate china, glasses and flatware, just beautiful!

How I would enjoy sipping a glass of wine on your walking path! What a special setting! The reclaimed wood, pumpkins, leaves, candles all in such natural colors are so pretty! Looks like I came in a couple of years behind, but the design still applies for 2020. It looks so inviting and my favorite part is the old wood piece you used for height.
