American Icon and silver screen stunner, Mae West once said: “when in doubt, take a bath” and if someone as glamorous as the incredible Ms West makes that suggestion, then we ought to listen.
Our bathrooms are a place of tranquillity, where we can either start the day feeling at ease, or we can rid ourselves of all the stresses of the day at night. However, more often than not, they are quite busy and hectic areas. Especially if you have children. When your kids are toddlers, it’s almost impossible to have a quiet soak without someone knocking at the door or letting themselves in. When your kids become teenagers, it’s highly likely that you will walk into a bathroom full of mess and will have to tidy up before you can even begin. This needs to change, so maybe it’s time to revamp your bathroom and lay down some ground rules in your home!
The first step, upgrade your bathtub. You don’t have to spend thousands on a new bath. There are ways you can turn your ordinary bathtub into a whirlpool bath. Imagine sinking into a hot tub full of massaging bubbles and reading a good book or enjoying a large glass of wine. Make your bath the main event in your bathroom and set a rule in the house that if you use it, you clean it. There are ways you can make this easier, and one useful tool is a squidgy, this will help wipe away any grime and excess water after you use the bath and will leave it with a lovely sparkle.
Towels are another item that we can overlook but will create a feeling of luxury and indulgence. When we go to a hotel or a spa, the towels are always white and fluffy and soft. So invest in some high-quality sets but make sure the kids have their own which they keep in their rooms. This will ensure you always have clean and lovely towels when you want to unwind and relax.
Candles can make a bathroom look stunning and give you a low level of light that will give your skin a beautiful glow and will help you sink into even more of a calm state of mind. You can buy scented candles online, or if you are worried about having a naked flame, you could consider using an LED tea light. Placed in pretty glass holders, you will get all the benefit and warmth of a real candle without the fire hazard! So if you drift off into a little sleep, you don’t have to worry.
Finally, get a new lock. Your bathroom is a space that should be invaded by anyone. So make sure you have a good lock that keeps unwanted guests out of your luxury hideaway. Set some ground rules too! If the door is locked, only knock in an emergency. It may also be worth letting your family know that you don’t want to be disturbed!
