In the homes of today, there are more different types of roofing materials that you can choose than ever before.

However, each one of them has their pros and cons so you need to pick wisely when you are going for one.

1. Asphalt Shingles

Asphalt shingles are highly popular roofing materials as are inexpensive to moderate, have a good level of resistance to fire and wind, and can also be used on steeper roofs.

Aesthetically, they fit in with the style of a wide variety of homes.

However, they are not the most durable material in the world and they are also not as eco-friendly as some of the other options on the market.

2. Metal

If you are planning on having some slate tiles installed on your roof, you will need to contact specially trained workers who are qualified in this area.

4. Plastic Polymer

In general, this tends to be both a long-lasting and low-maintenance choice, which is why it is so favored by modern homeowners.

5. Concrete Tiles

Concrete tiles are obviously heavy, but they also tend to last for a significant amount of time and they are also very fire resistant.

They are long-lasting and low-maintenance, but they can also end up breaking quite easily.

Hi BonBon! Great roofing post. Out of all of them I would go with the metal roof, because it lasts the longest and therefore wouldn’t have to be replaced as often. While there isn’t any as many color choices as you would get with shingles, it’s so durable that it makes it worth it.

My sister wants to renovate her home before this year ends so that she can sell it and move to a smaller one. When I read that getting a roof made out of asphalt shingles will make a home fire and wind resistant, I thought about finding a contractor to help replace her steel roof with it. Doing this will make her exterior fresh and add more value to it at the same time.
