5 Ideas To Add Unique Style To Your Porch

Finally today I am happy to say I have the porch finished and ready to share with you all.

Confession time……..I have wanted a screened in porch for like forever…….

Let’s just say I have had screened in porch envy every time I saw a home with one.

I have had small porches, big porches, wide porches, and skinny porches….but, no screened porch.

So when we decided to build our farmhouse you know that adding a screened in area was one of my top wishes.

To finally have my porch is beyond happy to me

With that said I want the space to provide a place that is comfortable, stylish and at the same time functional in order to make the most of this fantastic outdoor area.

Why don’t we jump right in and look at the 5 ideas To Add Unique Style To Your Porch

#1 PORCH Conversation Area 

Creating a conversation area with the rug and furniture is the first step in getting that nice relaxed, cozy feel.

I decided on two chairs and a white wicker loveseat that I already had

When picking these chairs I looked for something relaxed, casual and comfortable.

The chairs have a weathered wood look with a cane back insert.

The chair style is a relaxed lean back design with cushions for added comfort.

#2 Functional

Think about how you will be using your porch

In the mornings I like to take a few minutes and drink my coffee on the porch.

At times I will be using my laptop or reading a magazine.

And when friends come over we like to spend time talking on the porch.

To make the area easy to enjoy I added a white side table between the 2 chairs and a coffee table centered in the middle.

Tables add so much value to your space.

#3 Create Cozy & Comfort

Let’s take a look at the plants I used for my porch and you will get a visual of what I mean.

Cacti

To start with I made this little cactus garden with 3 different cacti.

What style do you normally think of when you see a cactus plant?  To me southwest/desert.

When planning my porch I was wanting the southwest look and knew that the cactus would be my plants, I just didn’t know how much they really would set the look.

The cactus absolutely created the southwest look.

Imagine for a minute if I had added ferns or a palm tree.

The porch would look totally different just because of plants.

  #5 Add Patterns

I picked pillows that were black & white with geometric patterns.
