Today is a topic that most of us can relate to. Hair Health and Beauty.
I have been getting questions about my hair routine so I thought I would talk about it today.
Taking good care of your hair will pay dividends later on as we age. But not only is the care we give our hair an important factor in how it looks but our health is also a huge factor in hair health, but today we are only discussing the best way to care for your hair.
So what are some of the daily and weekly tips I do for healthy hair?
Let’s take a look:
Don’t over wash
Drying out your hair by washing every day is really hard on your hair. Start by washing every other day. Not only does it save you time in drying, but also styling is easier when it has already been curled the day before. Skipping everyday washing makes your hair healthier by letting your hairs natural oils condition your hair.
Also, a good way to skip the everyday washing and to help you maintain the look of clean hair, try using dry shampoo. I have it on hand and it works great to get another day before hair washing.
Heat Styling
Hair dryers and curling irons are hair destroyers. Always use a heat protectant before drying and styling your hair. I have tried numerous heat protect products and finally found one that I absolutely love. This one product is my ‘MUST HAVE” in my hair routine.
If I had to pick the ONE TIP this is it. KENRA HOT SPRAY #20
It is a hair protectant and hair spray all in one. LOVE IT! I discovered this about 5 years ago and can’t live without it. I think you will love it too.
The Kenra Hot Spray #20 is all around amazing. While protecting your hair it also gives it holding power for your curls and waves. It holds my wave all day. All you have to do is spray it on your towel-dried hair before drying and styling.
Less is More
I add conditioner on my hair, ENDS ONLY, after shampooing and never apply to my scalp. Then add the Hot Spray before blow drying. That is it. If you use a lot of products your hair will need washing sooner. So go easy on adding more than one or two products and they should match your hair texture. Heavy products can weigh down your hair and it will go flat.
Shampoo & Conditioner
There are so many good shampoos and conditioners today that it is easy and not expensive to get a quality shampoo for your hair. I use L’Oreal Elvive Color Vibrancy shampoo and conditioner. It is perfect for any type of color treated hair or hair that is dry or damaged.
Diffuse it
The only way you should dry your hair no matter what type of hair you have is to use a hair dryer diffuser attachment. The diffuser aids in fewer tangles and not so intense heat in one spot on your hair.
Give It A Rest
On days when I am home and have more time, I let my hair air dry giving it a break from the dryer. Do this when you have time. Even if you can only let it dry partially that is so much better for your hair and means less drying time with the dryer and less damaging heat. I wash my hair and comb out. Then do my makeup to allow my hair to air dry for a bit before bringing out the dryer.
Cover Those Curls
Not only should we protect our skin from the sun but we should also protect our hair from the sun. Wear a hat when you can. I always wear a hat when outdoors gardening, watching sporting games or visiting amusement parks and if you have used the hot spray it is also is adding a layer of protection. Double defense is the way to go.
There you have my tips for protecting and keeping your hair looking its best all through the years. I hope you have found a tip you would like to try.
As always thanks for spending a little time with me today. See you soon!
