Make A Coat Rack In Less Than 1 Hour

I have a great DIY Coat Rack project to share with you and I think it will be one of your favorites.

Not only is this an easy project, with simple materials, but it’s also low-cost

This DIY Coat Rack project adds so much organization to your life that you will want more than one…..

I put this coat rack in my mudroom by the garage door

It makes it easy for everyone to keep their coats and hats at ready when rushing out the door.

No more hunting around for coats and toboggans

Material List

1 – 1 x 6 cut to 48″ length (I used a rough sawed board for a rustic look, but you can use a finely finished board as well)

2 – Cabinet screws

6 – Coat Hooks

Construction Tools

Drill

Tape Measure

Stud/Electrical Finder

Pencil

Level

Assembling the Rack

I painted my board with Rust-Oleum White Semi-Gloss paint 

Layout your hooks on the board to get the spacing you want.

Mark where you want each hook.  Measure and space each hook equally on the board

Drill screw holes and attach hooks with screws included with the hooks

Mounting Coat Rack To Wall

Hold the board on the wall to see where you want it positioned. 

Check with a level to ensure it is straight

We will be using cabinet screws to mount the coat rack to the wall studs.

Using your wall stud finder locate the wall studs.

It is important to make sure you will be avoiding any electrical wiring in the wall

Use a stud finder like this one to locate electrical wiring and studs

On the rack measure and center the cabinet screw holes and align with the hooks. 

We used two cabinet screws to secure the coat rack to the wall.
