Keeping Your Floors Clean 101

clean-floors-2

Floors are one of the things in our homes that get used day in day out and they are also quite possibly one of the things that do not get cleaned as often as they should, however, that could be because you are not really sure how to and because of how much effort it takes for little reward!

Our floors bear the brunt of our muddy shoes, our pet’s paws and claws, our intense workout sessions, wine spills, and other mishaps, and can often reveal marks, stains, and spills that might seem impossible to get rid of.

However, this piece will give you the 101 on keeping your floors clean and which flooring is easier to maintain for what lifestyle!

Clean Like You Mean It!

Keeping anything clean is always much easier with a foundation that has had a consistent good going over. After all – it is much more difficult to hoover up 2 weeks’ worth of house debris than around 4 days’ worth!

This is why cleaning like you really mean it at least once a week will definitely help in the amount of time and energy you have to invest during your routine cleaning.

Don’t forget to stick some tunes on too.

No Shoes in the House!

Unless you are an avid user of slippers, shoes should be left in the hallway or at the door where they can cause minimal damage to your flooring. Not only do shoes tread goodness knows what throughout the house, but abrasive soles could wear out your carpet faster than opting for a softer shoe. The same goes for hardwood floorings but with marks, dents, and scuffs!

Is it Too Late?

Whether you have brought a new house and the carpets are not salvageable, or you are thinking about a new look, you might fancy a new floor.

If you are looking at replacing your flooring, it is good to know what your options are and how they might fit into your lifestyle.

For some, not having a plush, thick carpet is out of the question, whereas others might prefer the freedom and ease of maintenance that can come with tile, vinyl, or wood flooring! If you are not sure which flooring would be best for you, then have a friendly chat to aflooringboutique.co.uk, flooring specialists that are happy to help!

A Microfiber Cloth and a Car Squeegee!

You might be thinking “weird choices for… flooring?” and you would be right, but these two – depending on your flooring – offer excellent hacks!

For those who have carpets and long hair, other halves with long hair, or pets with… you guessed it, long hair, your simple car squeegee will astound you with how much hair it can drag up, literally! Another great hack is to use a reusable microfiber cloth (or mop) for your wooden floors. The material is soft enough to not cause any harm to the wood and also collects all kinds of dust and debris like a magnet! Then simply pop it in the washer!

Have a Stain Remover Handy

Stain removers have come a long way over the years and now there are all sorts of options out there. A quick Google will find you the best stain removers on the market for this year and they are always worth having on hand to put on a stain immediately!
