There’s something about a glass of fresh squeezed lemonade that just stops you.
Not the powdered kind. Not the crystal packets. This fresh squeezed lemonade recipe uses real lemons, squeezed by hand, sweetened just enough, and poured over ice on a warm afternoon — and it takes less than ten minutes to make.
I’ve been chasing that glass at restaurants for years and never found one that gets it right. So I make it myself, and honestly? I wouldn’t have it any other way. Your family will ask for it all summer long.
Here’s exactly how I make it.
Squeeze
Squeeze the lemon through your juicer tool until it is dry
Lemon Juice
Look at that fresh lemon juice
Sweeten It Up
Add sugar to your fresh squeezed lemon juice. Remember REAL sugar only
Finishing it up
Add a few lemon slices to your lemonade
You can also add a slice of lemon to garnish the glass.
Your Lemonade is ready!
Real Lemonade
Ingredients
Method
- Slice each lemon into halfs
- Press lemon half on the manual press and turn lemon as you press. Squeeze until all juice is removed
- Continue pressing each lemon on press
- Pour juice from lemon press but to not pour the seeds or pulp into the pitche
- Start with 3/4 cup of sugar
- Add water to about 3/4 to the top of a 32 oz. pitcher
- Taste and add additional sugar until you reach the desired sweetness
- Add ice and lemonade to each glass, stir and serve.
- Optional mint spring can be added to each glass if desired.
Simple ingredients. Real flavor. The kind of thing that makes a slow summer afternoon feel exactly right.
If you grow your own lemons or have a garden going this year, this is the perfect way to use what you’re growing. Here in Indiana it is not possible to have a lemon tree. And if you’re looking for a beautiful way to display your lemonade, a classic glass pitcher styled on your porch or kitchen counter is one of my favorite simple summer touches.

I LOVE fresh squeezed lemonade! I usually use lemon juice from Costco but definitely need to try some with real lemons. I love the idea of using mint too!

It’s amazing how we have forgotten how great REAL food can be, even things prepared with just 1 or 2 ingredients. People are really starting to realize how unnecessary it is to add sugar and artificial ingredients to everything we eat. I think I may have to make some freshly squeezed lemonade now after looking at that picture …..
Nothing beats homemade fresh lemonade! Personally, I prefer it with less sugar (maybe mix in some squeezed oranges or limes for a sweeter flavour) because I love the zesty taste of the citrus fruits! The taste of summer…
