I just finished my bedroom refresh and wanted to share with you a few things you might want to consider when creating a bedroom that makes you very happy at the end of the day.
Read on to learn what to consider when creating your own personal space.
What is Your Style
When you think about the bedroom you would love to have what does it look like? You may not be sure what your style is. First take a look at bedrooms that you like. What about those rooms do you like? I would describe my bedroom style as modern farmhouse with a touch of mid century vibe – a relaxed, minimalist, and refined look. When you start shopping for your room shop by style to find the perfect piece such as a barnwood headboard for a rustic space, or mirrored nightstand for a glam getaway.

Plan Your Budget
The first step in getting your new bedroom is to make a budget. Start with an overall budget for your bedroom space and then divide it up between bedroom furniture, bedding, and décor. Be realistic when setting your budget. Creating a stylish room can be done very low cost if you have time to do some of the work yourself, DIY or thrift shopping, but if your more inclined to ask for help or hire an interior designer or home stylist then of course your budget will be very different. Remember and can mix and match furniture as I did and get a great unique look.

Bed Comfort
When planning your budget, plan to spend money where it will bring you comfort for years to come. A quality bed, mattress and sheets are essential for a good nights sleep.
Look closely and you will see my selection of the gorgeous Signature Hemmed sheet set made from 100% Organic Cotton, from Boll and Branch. At first look you will see the luxe generous hemmed pillow cases and sheets. The fitted sheet is 17″ deep so you will not have to worry about the sheet slipping from the mattress. I promise these are the softest sheets you will ever sleep on and will give you a luxurious, comfortable sleeping experience for years to come.

Throw Pillows
Adding throw pillows is one of the easiest and quick ways to add a total new look to your room. Keeping your bedding a neutral color makes for adding color and texture with pillows a fun and easy way to change the vibe of your room. Pillows can completely change a room. Pillows with patterns, texture, color and unique looks will be a statement of your unique style. My pick were the black/off-white design, mudcloth pillows added to my white bedding to give a great contrast and pop of interest and focus.

Light
Window light and table lamps are important in a bedroom setting.
The lamps I selected are adjustable and give off a cozy, soft light. Perfect for a reading and relaxing before sleep.

If you have a window, if possible let the natural light filter into your room. In the photo above you see I have a large window. The window is east facing so I get beautiful morning light. Adding a Bali 2″ blind was the perfect option to add privacy and when pulled up, still leave the window clear for the wonderful view out my window.

Completing the room
After you have your base items, bed, nightstands, and tv console, it is time to add other items that will pull the look together and adding comfort as well as function. Seating that is also storage is a great way to store you extra bedding and provide a place sit and gaze out the window.
Area rugs add warmth and comfort under foot. Consider a neutral color rug that will transition from one room style to another when you change pillow colors or add different art work.
