We are well into the summer season right now which means that every parent who is dealing with children off school will be looking for ways to entertain. The problem is that since the pandemic the cost of living seems to have shot through the roof. Everybody’s looking for cheap things to do and there’s definitely not enough stuff that doesn’t cost money!
When the temperature is suitable and the ground is dry, one of the best things that you can do as a family is head off on a picnic. It’s free, it’s easy to put together, and the kids can wear themselves out for a few hours. All you need to do is pack up some drinks, some sandwiches, some side orders such as Country Ham products, and even some fresh fruit and veggies. Pack it all together in a picnic bag with some ice blocks and you are ready to go! Are you still stuck on why you should go though? Let’s take a look below
To make breakfast more interesting
You don’t have to wait till lunchtime to go for a picnic, and sometimes it’s necessary to shake things up a little bit. The night before, pack your breakfast things into a picnic bag ready in the refrigerator. Add the cold blocks the next morning, and take the kids out on a morning walk. You could pack fresh meats and salads as well as fresh fruit and croissants, brioche pastries and more. If you have a park close to your house or in your neighborhood, get some flasks together with some hot coffee for you and some cold juices and water for the kids and head over there for a breakfast picnic and a play in the park. It’s a great way to start the day and invigorate everybody with some vitamin D.
It’s nice to chat
When you’re having a picnic, you’re less distracted by all the goings on around you. You can take everybody to a secluded area, lay out a blanket and food and sit around and enjoy yourselves. It gets you out of your comfort zone, out to restaurants and it is removed from the dining room table which means that everybody has a chance to sit and chat. It’s a nice way to reconnect.
It’s all about quality time
One of the most enjoyable things about picnics is that you have time to be able to enjoy yourselves. A comfortable blanket, a nice basket to carry the food, and the kids’ favourite snacks altogether make a very nice time to spend. If you have a pond or a local park nearby to where you are picnicking, that could also be incorporated your day
To enjoy a little nature
We are all stuck behind desks and in classrooms and Wednesdays are as glorious as they all during the summer you want to enjoy that. Breathing in the smells of the grass and the flowers around you and hearing the kids laughing while they play is just one of the best reasons why you should be picnicking together.
