Hi Friends…..Welcome to the March Create & Share Challenge hosted by my friend Stephanie @ CasaWatkins.  This month Walnut Hollow supplied each participating blogger with a wood item, to create and transform into a beautiful decorator item for their home. Walnut Hollow, is a leading manufacturer of fine wood surfaces, tools and accessories for the craft and hobby industry.

Be sure to check out each project. A full list is below.  You will want to see them all.

This is my basswood round that Walnut Hollow supplied

Step by Step Instructions

1 – I started by stenciling my letters on to the wood

2 – Using the wood burner tool I outlined the letters to add detail and depth.

3 – I then painted the basswood surface with a thinned white acrylic paint to give the board a whitewashed look. Add a little water to your paint until you get the paint consistency you like.

4 – I used watercolor pencils to add bright colors and give it a fun, festive look. You can use paint if you prefer. Just use your imagination and create a design you like.

5 – I added a rope hanger so the OPEN sign can be hung on a door or wall depending on the look you want.

I decided to use my sign in my kitchen vignette for a brunch that I was hosting.
There you have it.  A fun sign that can be moved around the kitchen or party area. #createandsharechallenge
