FARMHOUSE TABLE MAKEOVER – PART 1

How I Turned My DRAB Farmhouse Table into a FAB Farmhouse Table

It has been busy around the farmhouse this week

My project list is long and I have several projects started, but not finished.

Do you have unfinished projects?

Which drives me a little bonkers, but real life, day-to-day stuff has a way of messing with my plans. Ugh!

One project that I have partially completed is my farmhouse table.

I can’t wait to tell you all about it.

I have been mulling over this idea for months now.

Hold on.

Yes months.

The tale of this table is not that unusual.

So OK, what’s up? 

Let’s start at the beginning

Here is the first table I had in the dining space when we moved to the new house

After a few months I decided this just wasn’t the look I wanted.

So out the table goes.

And in comes the table I had in the basement storage.

The husband and a friend we recruited (our friends now run if they see us coming) to carry up the table from the basement

This table is heavy!

Size is excellent,  benches provide plenty of seating

So that brings me to what I decided to do.

Issue #One, I wanted chairs to go to the table instead of only having benches

you know how the benches are hard on the back after sitting for a while

Ouch!

Issue #Two, something was still not right with the look of the table (in my mind anyways) Ha!

To solve Issue #ONE –  seating…….The search for chairs was on

Folks, there is a lot of cheap made furniture out there. 

After hours, days, weeks of us both searching, online and in stores, my husband found a table & chairs set on Craigslist.  Woo Hoo!

Great style, solid wood, sturdy.

So we get up early on a Saturday morning and headed 2 hours east to pick up the set.

 We bought a table and six chairs

My plan was to use 4 chairs and 1 bench with the table.

#2 Issue – The look of the table still wasn’t doing it for me.

So I started by painting the chairs

I will post the process of painting the chairs soon, if you are interested in the How To.

Today I wanted to show you my progress so far, of the Farmhouse Table MAKEOVER.

I painted 4 chairs white and left the one bench for seating.  Burlap Off-White Table Runner.

I love how the white really enhances the chairs and the look of the table. These chairs would really look nice as well if you don’t want to do the refinish work.

I was able to give my farm table a new fresh look ( and I am not done)

so before buying something different think about how you can update or change it.  

Using what you have or adding to what you have can save lots of money

Paint can be a miracle worker for getting new looks.

I hope I have inspired you to not be afraid to make changes when you are wanting a new look
