Do you love the look of stone pottery?
You can turn your old plastic and terracotta pots into pots that look and feel expensive or only a few dollars.
Today I am sharing with you, something that I discovered over 10 years ago.
I have used it several times for different projects, but just recently decided to do some new projects.
Stone Texture Spray Paint.
How to Get Amazing Results
There are some tips and tricks that I want to share with you to ensure amazing results.
I have been wanting to give a couple of my large clay pots a new updated look.
Rust-Oleum stone paint is the perfect product to do just that and it does come in assorted colors.
So let’s get to it.
1. Make sure your pot or object is clean and dust free.
2. I first painted my pots with a chalked paint or white flat latex paint. I let it dry for about 15 minutes
3. Painting the pots with the chalked paint or flat white gives the stone paint gripping power and also you do not have to use as much of the stone paint to get good coverage on the pots.
Shake can for about one minute (very important).
Spray holding can about 10 inches from your object.
Spray in a sweeping motion.
Apply very light coats. It’s best to layer this paint in 2 or 3 sprays.
I sprayed this pot with 3 light coats.
Letting each coat dry about 30 minutes between coats.
The pot will need to dry overnight before it is ready to be handled and several days to really cure.
If it is humid weather it will take a few days longer than normal for the paint to dry completely.
The paint dries to a hard textured stone finish.
If your pot or item is going to be used for exterior use or not on a covered porch you will need to apply a top coat STONE CLEAR SEAL spray as a final spray to protect your project.
You can make any pot, vase or other object look like it is stone.
So many possibilities don’t you think? Have you used this type of paint on a project?
Don’t forget to pin this project to your PINTEREST for a later.
