Decorating Shelves to Create Decor Appeal
I don’t know about you all but I have always had a love/hate relationship with shelving.
It seems at times to be a place that things just get put and before you know it a collection of just a bunch of stuff….no rhythm or reason.
I decided to give my shelves a little love.
No need to buy new stuff to create a more appealing look.
Let’s see what we can do………….
Left and Right
This is the left shelf which isn’t horrible but it just lacks style.
This shelf on the right is basically just a forgotten, orphaned, pitiful space……poor thing.
Clear the deck
First: I remove everything from the shelves.
I will use most of the items again but just arranged in a more eye-pleasing style
Once all is removed clean the surfaces
As you can see in the before on the left it has a lot of hodgepodge items
Some are favorites things of my husband so I wanted to keep those.
Rearrange and Access
On the after photo, you can see I keep most of the items but just rearranged.
Added storage baskets, which is a great way to store you needed items.
On the right side shelves, I added two black baskets just like the ones on the left to pull the look of the shelves together.
I kept some of the bottles that we had collected from our travels
I added a green wooden platter
Finally, I added the wooden number tags I made to the baskets just to give that pottery barn look.

This is a photo of the room view of the shelves after a re-arrangement of items.
I think the shelves now have a more organized, appealing look.
The black baskets were the only new items added.
The total cost for this Shelf Update: $16
I hope this has inspired you to try a little rearranging to your bookcases are shelves that you are wanting a new look.
No need to spend lots of money.
