Beef Stew Recipe
Do you love to come home and have a meal ready for you????
I know I do…this isn’t exactly like having a hired cook, but its pretty darn close.
I first made this stew when I was learning to cook as a young wife and mother.
I loved this recipe from the first bite and oh it is so easy.
Mix all the ingredients in an oven proof pot with a lid the night before and refrigerate.
Next morning before going to work, pop into the oven, set your timer to start cooking so that it cooks for 5 hours, time it to where it will kick on and be done about 10 minutes before you want to serve the meal.
Just look how wholesome and fresh this stew looks.
Time to set your oven and bake.
When you get home it will be in your oven waiting for you and oh the wonderful aroma that will greet you when you arrive home is truly a welcome home feel.
I make biscuits as I let the stew cool for about 5-10 minutes then serve with a salad or side of your choice.
- 2 lbs. beef stew meat, cubed do not brown
- 1 can tiny peas
- 1 c. sliced fresh carrots
- 2 chopped onions
- 1 big raw sliced potato
- 1 can of cream of tomato soup
- 1 tsp. salt
- Dash of pepper
- Bake in casserole with tight lid. Bake at 275 degrees for 5 hours.
- Preheat oven to 275 degrees.
- Add all ingredients to a casserole dish with a tight lid.
- Stir until well mixed.
- Bake for 5 hours.
This is a great meal to fix on a weekend or during the work week.
I usually set the timer to start at 1:00 p.m. and then the stew will be ready at 6:00 p.m.
I arrive home around 5 and I serve the meal a little after 6:00. The stew only needs to cool about 5 minutes before serving.
This is one easy recipe, which is my favorite kind…What about you?
