Make Wicker Furniture Look Like New
Sitting here on my wicker couch is one of my favorite hang outs in the summer
I look out across the yard
Thinking about my To Do List, my family, my cat, how I love the outdoors.
A place to ponder…….
A place to drink lemonade……
A place to daydream….and maybe take a nap….zzzzz
Oh, sorry….back to what I wanted to share with you today.
I wanted to discuss wicker furniture
I bought this furniture last summer from listing on Craig’s List..
It did not look like this….
It was a sorry sight when I first saw it….
Dusty, dirty, & cat furry……chipped paint…..you get the picture
however, I knew it had potential to be a beauty
it was just begging me to take it home
make it feel loved again…….
SO I DID…..I didn’t know how yet
But I would find a way
Power Washer to the Rescue
Once the wicker was power washed I then took a brush and removed any remaining paint flakes.
It is recommended that wicker be allowed to dry for several days.
I didn't get time to paint for several days....so the furniture dried for about 5 days.
After the drying time was up, I was ready to paint
I wanted a really hard, water resistant coating and this paint fit the bill.
Rust- Oleum Appliance Epoxy spray paint. It is amazing.
Rust-Oleum® Specialty Appliance Epoxy is an ultra-hard, moisture resistance enamel It provides a smooth, washable surface. Goes on smoothly and creates a hard protective coating. Perfect for the wicker furniture.
I applied one coat and let it dry.
It covered so well. I did add a light second coat just to make sure I had not missed any spots.
It dries quickly to the touch.
I waited 5 days before actually using the furniture.
This will be the second summer of using the wicker on my front porch. It looks just as good today as when I first painted.
I was planning on moving the furniture into the basement for winter...but didn't get it done.
We did have a mid winter, and the furniture is partially protected from the weather by being on the porch.
Therefore, I would highly recommend using the Rust-Oleum Appliance Epoxy.
It adds an amazing coat of paint on wicker.
I think this would be great paint for metal patio chairs and tables. That is on my To Do list for another day.
What do you think? Do you have outdoor furniture that needs a refresh?
Thanks for stopping by today. Have a good one!
