It is already Week 4 of the Spring 2017 – ONE ROOM CHALLENGE
If you are new to the ORC each year Linda of Calling It Home host a Spring and Fall ORC where Guest Participants bloggers are invited to redo a room in 6 weeks.
More than 260 bloggers participated last Fall, so tons of inspiration for everyone.
My room this go round is my Farmhouse Guest Bedroom
For me, the ORC challenge is a motivator and is the push I need to get busy on a particular room or space.
Let’s take a look at what I have done in WEEK 4 ……………..

This week I have been working on my bedding plan, so I thought I would share a few tips that work to get that perfect bedding no matter what your style.
There are so many pretty options that it can be overwhelming to even know where to start.
Can you guess what style I am going for? Ha….Just kidding you know it will be the farmhouse style.
Let me show you how I pull my bedding together.
Making Of A Farmhouse Bed
First of all, nice bedding is a pretty big purchase so choosing bedding that you’ll love now and for years to come is important.
When walking into any bedroom the main item that catches your eye is the bed.
Don’t you love the look of a bed that makes you instantly want to fall into all the luscious softness and coziness.
4 Main Items For any bed.
Layers, texture, color and pattern. We will talk about these as we go.
Layers = Coziness
Texture = Interest
Color & Pattern = Style & Mood of the room.
Starting from the bottom up.
For my look I started with basic white sheets.
I bought white sheet sets when I decorated my Master Bedroom last Fall for the ORC 2016. If you missed it you can check it out here: Farmhouse Master Bedroom
I loved how clean and crisp they look. I choose the microfiber type which give a wonderful soft feel and are so smooth against your skin.
No matter what I add to the bed or if I want to change things later the white sheets go with everything.
Also a great way to get good prices on sheets is to always be watching for sales or clearance items, it happens a lot in January through March in my area.
I found a queen set a few weeks ago at Menard’s, on clearance for $18. Can you believe that? They were on an end cap in the back of the store. Not in the bedding area. So be on the lookout.
Here are a few similar sheets sets that I found at good prices.
Comforter or Duvet.
I love the look and feel of Down, but we all know how expensive Down stuffed comforter can be. So a great option is the Alternative Down.
Feels & looks like a Down comforter without the big price tag. Similar feel and warmth. I love the microfiber fabric outer shell that many come in.
I choose the color White, Alternative Down Comforter, in a smooth texture, Microfiber Outer Shell in Queen size. No pattern.
One little trick I use to get the comforter fabric wrinkle free is to iron the surface.
Yes, iron. But hold on…..this is really easy. I will share how in a later post.
So to make it easy for you to check out this awesome options check out the Alternative Down Comforters I found in my search. All price ranges.
Down & Alternative Down Comforters
QUILT or BLANKET
Next, a farmhouse bed needs a quilt. Color + Texture + Pattern
My pick was a this xhilaration Quilt, that has an intricately embroidered Medallion pattern in gray. Quilts add warmth, softness and totally coziness.
This is one of the easiest ways to add understated style and cozy comfort to any bed.
I think adding a Quilt to the end of the bed is a great way to create an inviting look and can easily be used by your guest for comfort and warmth.
